During The warring states period, when the trouble time was full of wars, when dogs' status was somehow superior to humans' , people who were only eager for a zori or a Bothy were numerous. How could People who preserved their life at any costs match those who forwent the earthly pleasure and looked for the free and unfettered life beyond the noisy world? they was content with their lot, standing by and facing life with smile.
As a famous saint(which would never be accepted by himself) ,Zhuangzi was a leader of those people. Born thousands of years ago, he circulated immortal theory to the people, and was known as Nan Hua immortal. There were a few records about him in other books. Mostly, the perception about him came from his own book: Nan Hua Classic in which he wrote down all of his thoughts and ideal.
Believing in Dao quite piously, he thought that people should look for the concord between human beings and the the nature as well as live in inaction forever. This may sound ridiculous and pessimistic now, but was a perfect way for people to go through the chaos without too much pain.
Zhuangzi’s theory was recorded in fables and conversations mostly, some of them are quite interesting as well as some of them really shocked the world.
However, this guy was not considered great, or was only known by a few people,in the period about 2000 years ago. His theory about inaction, following the nature, encouraged people to look for unfettered life and did comfort billions of people who were struggling in the world. As his theory was accepted by more and more people, the name of Zhuangzhou became more and more famous. The popularity of his theory reached its peak about 1700 years ago. At that time, the majority of the govern officials were crazy about the theory, and the whole country tended to look for inaction, the free style of living, which totally slowed the development of the country.
One more reason for his success is his incredible skills of mastering words. Zhuangzhou could always persuade people of his theory by his graceful sentences.
Some people consider him as the greatest author instead of a great philosopher
